Yes, chocolate mousse that’s good for you with no added sugar, no cream and no dairy!
“What is this mythological good for you chocolate mousse you speak of?” I hear you holler.
I’m glad you asked. Here it is….:)
8 pitted dried dates
2 ripe avocados
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
200 ml coconut cream*
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup (optional)
*Try not to shake your can or packet of coconut cream and carefully spoon out 200ml of the cream that has risen to the top. This helps your mousse to retain its thick consistency.
I put my coconut cream in the freezer for about 30 minutes before preparing the mix to help speed up the chilling process.
Pop your dates in a bowl and soak in warm water for 15-20 minutes, then drain the water.
In a blender, put your soaked dates, the scooped out flesh from your avocado and the remainder of your ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth.
Pour your mixture into a couple of glasses. Top with some shaved or grated dark chocolate.
Chill for 2 hours and enjoy!
This makes 2 generous serves. You can easily double or triple the recipe to suit. 🙂
Easy, healthy, delicious!!
