I Heart You Cookies

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Cookies are delish

But are they low fat too?

Miss 6 doing a great job hand modelling! 🙂

Sadly….not these cookies…..but hey they say love is blind….so get ready to make these beauties! The recipe for the cookie dough is here.

Take 1/3 of your cookie dough and add quite a few drops of red food dye and knead in the dye until you have the perfect shade of red. DSC_0852 Roll out the red dough to about 2 cm thickness.

Using your heart shape cookie cutter, start cutting out your hearts. DSC_0854 Stack the hearts on top of each other, ensuring they line up. DSC_0856    DSC_0858

Wrap your stack of hearts with cling wrap and leave to chill in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. You want them to become quite solid.

In the meantime, roll out the uncoloured dough and wrap the dough quite firmly around the stack of hearts.

You want to make sure there’s no gap between the red and uncoloured doughs. DSC_0862   DSC_0864

Shape your dough into a column.  Wrap in cling film and chill in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. DSC_0860 When the dough is firm but not frozen, using a serrated knife, slice your log into 1 cm rounds.

I like to also use a round biscuit cutter to cut out a round from the slice, for a neater biscuit.

Bake in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius (160 degrees Celsius for fan forced ovens) for about 10 minutes until golden.

Present to your loved ones and be prepared for squeals, hugs and kisses!! DSC_0962

Enjoy!
